Forest Bathing Retreat
“take a nature cure”
with Ronna Schneberger
Dates: June 12-14th, 2020
Forest Bathing, known in Japanese as Shinrin Yoku, is a way to connect deeper with Mother Earth and receive the healing benefits from Nature. This weekend will introduce you to the practice of Forest Bathing to rejuvenate you from the inside out. You don’t need any prior experience to receive the vast benefits this weekend will offer to you at our beautiful Retreat Center in Golden, BC!
“This experience provides you with an opportunity to slow down, listen to your ‘other’ voice, reflect, and simply be in nature in a different way. While hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities are wonderful, this is an opportunity to really experience nature, without any other goal or focus.”Annette Aubrey, Calgary, AB
Forest Bathing, know as Shinrin Yoku, originated in Japan in the 1980’s. Doctors started to prescribe this Forest Therapy to clients who were suffering from high stress, anxiety, and depression. Over the past 30 years, research has shown that time in the Forest (in this way) significantly decreases stress, anxiety, depression, and mental fatigue. It greatly increases the overall feeling of wellness, clarity, critical thinking, and the ability to make decisions.
Research also shows that 2-3 hours of Forest Bathing per day, for 3 days, increases your natural killer cell activity (cancer fighting white blood cells) by 56% and it will stay that way for 30 days.
Join us for this weekend away from your regular routine, reset your batteries, slow down, rest, relax, and rejuvenate. Just “be” in a beautiful natural environment and receive the many benefits of nature and quietude!
After having a powerful vision on her first backpacking trip in the Canadian Rockies, Ronna pursued a career in professional guiding. For more then 20 years, Ronna has been exploring ways of connecting people to landscapes in profound ways. This interest has led her to study a variety of practices including leadership development, yoga, meditation, and most recently Shinrin Yoku. She is now a certified trainer for the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.
She realized through experience and training, that once her mind became quiet, she felt a strong connection to all of life and realized inner wisdom and clarity is available from a place of stillness. These techniques now form the foundation of her work with people from around the world.
“a Japanese word meaning; a visit to the forest for relaxation”
Ronna is an award winning professional guide in the Mountain Parks for over 21 years and is an accredited Master Interpreter and ACMG Hiking Guide. She is also a certified Hatha Yoga and Meditation Instructor with over 17 years of experience. With a degree in Recreation Management she continues to explore the power of place and how nature can help us come back into balance in today’s challenging hectic world.
